To make your hardwood floors last longer and dust free, you are going to need area rugs especially on high traffic areas, today I’m going to share what I think is the best area rug for hardwood floors.
I have hardwood floors myself, I’ve tried about 6 different area rugs and I was very disappointed with all of them as they didn’t provide me with what I was looking for.
After switching from different to different area rugs I finally found what works best for my house, it is nice, it awesome, no stains plus it is exactly what I have been looking for.

Things that I love about this area rug:
- First of all, it is not expensive at all, it very cheap especially when buying it online
- Very good for high traffic areas
- It protects my hardwood floors extremely well
- it stunning
- it colours and design is very nice
- the comers curled under nicely even after having super heavy items on it
- it is high quality
- it is very soft
- you do not need a pad underneath but I recommend putting it when you have hardwood floors.
- they have a lot of different colours to choose from, I bought a grey one and it was exactly what I imagined
- for me this rug is a steal
- it looks fantastic wherever I put it
- if you have a dog that likes slipping on your hardwood floors then this rug is definitely what you need.
- It pile is low and it texture is soft
- I love the feel
- It is for all types of homes and highly recommended for hardwood floors
Things you need to know about this rug:
when I was reading it customer reviews from amazon, people were mentioning that it had a stain when they first got it, mine also had a stain but it wasn’t really a stain, it was some kind of stain from the paper label being processed onto the rug.
It really not a stain but It is just an imprint that goes away with time, so you really don’t have anything to worry about…
How to get rid of the stain from the plastic wrap? vacuuming took care of it for me…
Another thing that kind of turned me off when I first got it was the smell, well it wasn’t really a smell but it was a new carpet chemical smell… for me the smell went away in about a week. It wasn’t nothing serious.
You don’t need to worry about the smell that people are mentioning under the reviews because it does dissipate, the smell will probably subside in about a week. so just give it at least 5 days it just a warehouse chemical smell.
Caution: When moving furniture on it, it looks quite dented but the dents do disappear very quickly
Tips:
- What I have realised is that the more I vacuum the rug the softer it gets…
- The rug laid down flat after I put books on each corner
- It available locally at Target and Walmart but don’t buy it offline, buy it online at amazon.com so you can save because it cost twice as much when buying it locally.
- If you have hardwood floors like myself make sure to put rug pad under it.
The discoloration people are referring under the customer reviews is the way the rug is packaged, the plastic pulls the fibers of the rug tight that why when you unroll the rug it has patches of darkness, you need to vacuum it and the fibers will stand up properly and it won’t longer appear to be discoloured.
Things that I don’t like about this rug:
We are all know that there is no such thing as a perfect product, every product has its own pros and cons, yes the Ottomanson Paterson Area Rug is also not perfect but I honestly do not have any complains about this rug because it cheap, it looks amazing and it does exactly what I needed. It protects my hardwood floors extremely well.
I’m not really good when it comes to convincing people but the only thing I can promise you about this area rug is that you are not going to regret spending your money on it.
After trying different rugs that were garbage, the Ottomanson Paterson Area Rug is truly an amazing value.

Is this rug really worth it?
Hell yes… it not perfect but it a nice rug, it beautiful to look at and it best for hardwood floors but I recommend putting a rug pad under it before using it.
