Not all Roomba vacuum cleaners are safe on laminate floors that is why you need to be very careful when looking for a Roomba to use if you have laminate flooring in your home.
Laminate flooring is extremely sensitive scratches, some Roomba vacuums will slowly but surely ruin your laminate floors over time.
Please note: not all Roomba vacuums are bad but most Roomba vacuums were not designed for sensitive floors such as laminate flooring.
So, should you use a Roomba vacuum on laminate floors?
Yes, but make sure that the Roomba that you use was made and designed for sensitive floors such as laminate, bamboo, vinyl and engineered hardwood floors.
So, which Roomba vacuum is safe and suitable for laminate flooring?
The only Roomba that I personally recommend for laminate floors is the iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum simple because it is also what I use when cleaning my home.
My house has laminate floors, I have been using this Roomba for quite some time now and it has never given me any issues.
This Roomba vacuum cleaner was made and designed for sensitive floors, you won’t have a single regret from spending your money on it, it a great investment for people who are looking for a high quality Roomba that doesn’t cost a lot of money.
I also made a mistake of using a wrong Roomba on my laminate floors
I first heard about Roomba vacuums about a year ago and I was amazed by the technology.
After reading a few articles about Roomba vacuums, I started watching YouTube videos that were reviewing Roomba vacuums.
Well, after a month of reading articles and watching YouTube videos, I decided to get myself a Roomba on eBay.
Two mistakes that i made when i bought my first roomba
- The first mistake that I made was buying a super cheap Roomba that didn’t work for long and on top of that it left a lot of marks on my laminate flooring.
- The second mistake that I made was buying a Roomba vacuum that was not made for laminate floors.
When I first got the Roomba that I bought from eBay, I was very happy with it, it worked like magic but it really didn’t live up to it expectations after a while.
After using that Roomba for a month, I soon realized that it was scratching my laminate floors, at first, I thought it was the dog since my dog has long nails.
So, my wife decided to cut our dog nails… well, that didn’t fix the issue.
My dad told me that the only thing that was ruin my laminate floors was the Roomba that I was using when vacuum the floors.
After talking to my dad, I went to amazon and searched for the best Roomba vacuum that was safe on laminate floors then I stumbled upon the iRobot Roomba 960 Robot Vacuum .
The only thing that I can tell you about the iRobot Roomba 960 is that, buying it was the best decision. it was a good investment just because it does the job very well and it doesn’t scratch my laminate floors.
What makes the Roomba 960 Vacuum different from other Roomba vacuums available on the market right now?

It not cheap but it also not expensive as well, anyone can buy this Roomba vacuum without breaking THE BANK.
The only thing that I can promise you about this Roomba is that, you are not going to have a single regret from spending your money on it.
Why do some other Roomba vacuums damage laminate floors?
- Some Roomba vacuums are just garbage
- Most Roomba vacuums available on the market right now were not made or designed for sensitive floors
- A lot of Roomba vacuums that you will find are coming from China, 90% of Roomba vacuums from China will not live up to expectations, they are only good on tiles or marble floors
- A lot of people tend to buy super cheap Roomba vacuums cleaners, most cheap Roomba vacuums are only great on concrete floors, that is why you need to be very careful when shopping for a Roomba if you have super sensitive floors such as laminate and vinyl
- Laminate flooring is very strong but it tends to be very sensitive to scratches, MOST ROOMBA VACUUMS ARE NOT RELIABLY
When buying a Roomba vacuum, make sure it was made for hardwood floors.
If the Roomba you have is safe on hardwood floors then that means it also safe for both laminate floors and bamboo floors.
The reason I only recommend the iRobot Roomba 960 Vacuum is because it was made and designed for hardwood flooring, I’ve been using it on my laminate floors for over 4 months now and it freaking awesome.

What are the things that I do not like about my iRobot 960 Roomba vacuum?
I have a dog in my house and he likes to sit on this Roomba when it cleaning, he thinks it a toy.
If you have pets than you need to know that the navigation system will stop working if a dog or a cat sit on it…
But it great for people who have pets because it good when it comes to cleaning pet hair…
Some Roomba vacuums will definitely damage laminate flooring, I also made a mistake of buying a cheap Roomba that ruined my laminate floors within the first week of using it, most Roomba vacuums are not safe to use on luxury floors such as laminate, people need to read the product description before wasting money on a cheap useless Roomba vacuums or else they will be very disappointed.
I have three dogs, will this work? My laminate floors has dog hair all over, I need a Roomba that wont ruin my laminate floors but also clean my dog hair. Will this Roomba work?
I also have a dog in my house, my floors always have dog hair, I have been using this Roomba for over 4 months now and I couldn’t be happier, it cleans my dog hair very well.
I have been using this Roomba vacuum for about three times a week since I got it and I’m amazed at all the dog hair it gets, it really good when it comes to cleaning dog hair, but I’m honestly not sure when it comes to super long hair since my dog has short hair.
I’m pretty sure that this Roomba will not work very well with certain type of pet hair, but I’m very positive that t will work for you since it picks up all my dog hair that is laying on the floor.
Hey durbany, I was wondering, how loud is this Roomba when cleaning?
well, there is no such thing as a perfect Roomba, the roomba 960 does make some noise when cleaning but it doesn’t make super loud annoying noise, so you really don’t have anything to worry about.
But to answer your question, it loud but not as loud as a regular vacuum. but based on my own personal experience, I don’t think it very loud. Hope that helps, cheers.
Hey durbany, thanks for writing this article, my dad gave me a Roomba vacuum as my birthday gift and it left marks on the floor, I totally agree with what you said, some Roomba vacuums are just garbage… I just ordered the iRobot 960 as you recommended, I hope it won’t disappoint lol. Great article, keep up the great work.
Me and my wife just got married, we want to buy a Roomba vacuum that can clean the house while we are away, our home have bamboo floors and laminate floors, I’m going to buy the Roomba that you recommended on this article, it kinda pricey but it better to buy an expensive Roomba than buying a cheap Roomba that will damage my laminate floors over time.
Hey durbany, will this Roomba clean dog hair?
yes, it works on pet hair, it cleans my dog hair very well, but It not that great for pets that have long hair.
On the description, it says (ideal for pet hair), which means it good on most pet hair types.
My dog has short hair and it works like magic, if your dog doesn’t have super long hair than you should buy it and see how it goes, thanks for reding my blog, cheers.
